2020 Scholarship Competition set for Feb. 16

Pageantry at IU student organization is accepting candidates for this year’s competition. The event will take place Sunday, Feb. 16 at Willkie Auditorium where full-time IU-Bloomington students will compete for a share of almost $4,000 in scholarships. Always entertaining and spirited, the show is open to the public and free of charge.

As an official preliminary to Miss Indiana and Miss America, the on-stage phases of competition include talent, on-stage interview, social impact initiative statement and evening wear. Off stage, candidates will have a 10-minute private interview with the judging panel the morning of the competition. Detailed explanations of the competition and its requirements are on our requirements page.

Prospective candidates are invited to attend free, preparatory workshops, also hosted by Pageantry at IU. The first workshop will be Sunday, Jan. 26 with the second workshop being Sunday, Feb. 2. Both will take place at Fine Arts 015 from 2-5 p.m. Workshop participants will have opportunities to ask questions; get help with their resumés and social impact statements; practice on-stage walking patterns; participate in mock interviews and on-stage questions; and receive general advice regarding wardrobe and preparation.

The deadline for submitting required paperwork is Friday, Jan. 31. Shortly after, Pageantry at IU will post a list of this year’s candidates. Friends, family and the public are invited to vote for their favorite candidate in our People’s Choice competition. Follow our social media for updates and access to voting prior to Feb. 16.

Pageantry at IU is proud to be the only Miss Indiana local competition produced by a student organization. However, this annual event would not be possible without generous support from the IU Foundation, IU Funding Board, the Miss American Foundation, the Kiwanis Clubs of Bloomington and South Central Indiana, plus several local businesses.
